  • Before the course

The first thing you’ll do on this course is go through the first guided reflection. This asks questions that will help us learn more about who you are and what is important to you. We will carefully craft your reflection prompts throughout the 8 week course from what you share with us here.

  • Weeks 1 to 4

During the weeks 1 to 4, the focus will be on the first 2 key parts for well being (described below): self-awareness and self esteem. Tailored prompts will be sent to you three times a week and how much you reflect and write is up to you. These prompts could be added to your usual reflection and journaling, or if this is new to you, these prompts can start a process for you to begin with.

  • Halfway point

At the end of Week 4, we will have a 30 to 45 minute conversation online to check in with how things are going. You are welcome to share as much or as little as you are comfortable with. The aims of this check in is to provide opportunities for you to:

    Ask any questions or share any thoughts;

Continue and enrich reflections you’ve made over the last 4 weeks, and

Hear from me an overview of the next 4 weeks and consider what you’re drawn to the most or ideas you have that would deepen/enrich your reflections for the last 4 weeks of the course.

  • Weeks 5 to 8

In the last part of this course, the focus of the prompts will be building on the last 2 key parts to well being (described below): Purpose and Hope for the future. Similar to the first part, tailored prompts from the initial guided reflection and from the halfway conversation will be sent to you three times a week.

  • Ending the journey

At the end of the final week, we will meet again online for a 30-45 minute conversation. The aim of this session is to wrap up and reflect as we finish the course.
    We will:

Reflect on how the 8 week course has gone for you.

Evaluation of the course - this will really help me in learning what can make this course better.

We will also explore what you’d like to do from here. What other supports might you want from Diem?

What informs this course

This course draws your attention to 4 key parts that contribute to well being:

  • By noticing what’s there  - our actions, thoughts, and feelings that range from positive to negative and anything in between, we can better understand what holds us back and what can support us in our journey of self discovery and growth.

  • This course defines self esteem as how we value and perceive ourselves. By drawing our attention to this, we can discover more about the beliefs we hold about ourselves, others and the world around us. Whether a belief might be helpful or unhelpful, healthy or unhealthy at this time, having a closer look at them will give us a better understanding of what you value and from that, what holds and builds meaning in our lives.

  • In this course, we see purpose as having a clearer understanding of the sense of meaning in our actions, our lives, and our impact on the world around us. What can greatly influence this is deepening the connection you have with what you value and how your actions align with that.

  • Together, these key parts aim to build a sense of hope for your future. Casting your reflections and discoveries in the first 3 key parts towards the future creates a sense of encouragement and drive to keep going - especially in the face of challenges in life.

  • Who is this for?

Diem’s approach is to hold a sense of wonder and adventure about life and we hope to cultivate a culture of appreciating a deep sense of meaning and value within people and their lives.

Our courses are for you if you align with this and the values we approach our work with:
Respect - for people’s backgrounds, culture, and different walks of life.
Partnership - collaboration and working with you to meet the best outcomes for you.
Integrity - in our practice, work, and responsibility to care and support others.
Autonomy - we believe in the people we work with. This is a value that upholds people’s ability to hold agency and power over their choices and their lives.

  • Aims and hopes of this course:

    1. Encourage curiosity and growth while diminishing the effects of harmful judgement and criticism.

    2. Develop a deep sense of encouragement from the reflection process.

    3. Shifting your mindset and beliefs around barriers and setbacks, achievement and yourself.

    4. A process of creating and enriching meaning within your day to day experiences.

What it’s not

This course is not a form of counselling or therapy. While Gabriel is a fully qualified and registered counsellor, this course has been made with the intent to support in a coaching or mentoring approach.

If you are needing more support with your mental health, we encourage you to talk to your GP/doctor first and let them know about what you’re going through. They will be able to support you with a referral to a counsellor or therapist near you.
